    Is this drum safe?

Did this this morning after dropping my kid off. It's definitely got some sort of coating on it. We'll see what a fire does. Might consider sandblasting too.

    Is this drum safe?

It doesn't feel plasticine. Feels smooth, almost just like the metal itself. I'm concerned it's an enamel, which idk if a fire would remove. Might be out 30 bucks, but luckily that's a pretty small amount to lose. Might get a fire going in it today. We shall see.

    Is this drum safe?

Bought today for 30 bucks. Formerly held some sort of coconut oil based body product.

    Barrel for a UDS

Hey all, I rarely post, but my old UDS rusted out and has been outta commission awhile. Picked up a new drum today and want to see what everyone thinks. Is this a good drum for a build? I don't think it is lined but it's hard to tell really. Surely someone's used something similar and will know...

    Hole in my UDS

I wonder if it'd be a better idea with a subsequent smoker to store it in the shed (recent acquisition as we moved a few months ago, didn't have that at the last place). Probably also need to be more diligent about cleaning it after use (oftentimes it's late, tired, long day, etc).

    Hole in my UDS

Hey all, been awhile! I've had my UDS for around 5-6 years and finally the rust on the bottom seems to have gotten bad enough that there's a small hole there now. Any suggestions on a fix? Piece of sheet metal and some pop rivets? Metal screws? Ball up some tinfoil and stick it in there? I...

Nothing could be finer than Thanksgiving in Carolina

Hey all, been awhile since I shared anything but I just had to document my turkey cook. First time I'd even done a whole bird, and hoo boy, the results were something. First off, look at the majestic sunrise that greeted me on Thanksgiving morning: No time to admire it, though, there was...

Recent doings, Meatloaf and brisket (q-view heavy)

Hi all, been awhile but I've got much to report. Firstly, a few weeks back I got that itch to cook. Hadn't been able to in quite some time, so I started browsing, and came across the idea of a smoked meatloaf (thanks SeenRed). Not knowing this was even possible previously, I set out to do it...

    SeenRed's Meatloaf - OMG!!

Question, cuz I wanna do these Friday on my UDS, what is it you set them on in smoker/grill, and where can I get something similar?

Do I just buy another one of the same or can anyone recommend something better?

    Cooked a bbq feast (Q-View)

Tested the thermometer with the tip submerged in boiling water on the stovetop. Registered around 175 in boiling water?  Ergo, do I just compensate for the difference?

    Cooked a bbq feast (Q-View)

It sounds like I need to test it. When I got it, I was told that the thermometer was pretty accurate (I know they typically aren't THAT accurate). Anybody know a good, reliable method to test this?

    Cooked a bbq feast (Q-View)

I bet that was the issue. Had a buddy come and watch the stuff for me while I had to leave for a while, and when he foiled them, no liquid. Is that what caused it?
