Not sure I follow your coathook system. Do you have pics? Trying to better understand. Thanks! Also, thanks for the positive vibes on the shelves. Glad to have helped come up with the idea.
When I saw rain in the forecast I initially planned to cut a hole in the wall and run a permanent vent outside. Got shot down by the “boss lady”, but I think I’ll be able to sneak it in for the next rain.
Following your step-by-step for the smoke tonight. Know you didn’t do your’s overnight, but I think I’m setup to make it work. Will post the results tomorrow. Thanks!
Having a holiday gatering tomorrow and planned to smoke two pork shoulders overnight. The forecast in Houston calls potential flooding. Decided to improvise.... smoking inside the garage tonight. Got my CO alarm on deck just Incase!
I don’t understand how everyone is using these high pressure regulators with success. Why not just keep the original regulator and place a needle valve in-line of the hose?
I’d spare all the connectors and just purchase the needle valve and a propane hose extension (3/8” flare on either end of the hose). Place the needle valve between the two hoses and your done. You’ll get precise control with the convenience of a longer hose. Did this on my old propane smoker it...
I can definitely take pics this evening when I get home, and can provide some measurements for you. This cart is very sturdy, I moved it around quite a bit over the weekend. Also gave it a few shakes to test and see it there is potential for tipping over. So far so good.... I am also working on...
Thank you sir! I’m really happy with how it turned out for what I have into it. Can’t wait to add more to this thread as I come up with new shelves and storage ideas.
Slim as in narrow or as in the construction?
As for the construction, it’s solid. I’m not wheeeling this thing across a yard. Just from my garage out to the driveway, but I’d bet I could move it a good distance if needed. I’m actually pretty impressed with the strength of the materials.
Yes...
After looking at everyone’s cart builds and pricing out wood to build my own, I stumbled upon this nifty little cart from Amazon. The dimensions are perfect for a MES40. Almost like it was meant to be!
I’ve got one shelf left that I’ll probably cut in half and use as shelves that face outward...
Found a quick fix by pulling the disconnect plug form the control panel at the top of the smoker. I’ll be using the smoker with the PID the majority of the time, but if I want to run it normal. I can just plug that panel back in.
Thanks for posting this solution!
Just performed this procedure and hooked up the PID. Now every time the PID sends power to the burner the MES control board beeps. So now as it’s flickering the burner I get a bunch of beeps! Anyone else had this issue? It’s not the end of the world, just kinda annoying.
