Wood Chips with Pellets, anyone tried this?

This is why I decide to go with the Masterbuilt 900 (Costco version). There are so many ways to add wood throughout the cook. Heck you can even burn all wood if you wanted to (It's basically a poor man's KBQ). So far I only had the chance to smoke beef ribs but they were amazing compared to...

Wood Chips with Pellets, anyone tried this?

I think the biggest difference between burning wood chips in a tube vs burn pot is the burn pot is going to burn cleaner since it's an open fire. I have tried using wood chips and pellets in a tube and I don't like the taste of smoke it gives off.

Wood Chips with Pellets, anyone tried this?

I just saw this on youtube and I wonder if anyone else tried putting wood chips in their pellet smokers? Looks like you need to get special length chips from Lonestar Grill.

    Heat Deflector

@ron50 If you are looking to buy a Kamado I highly suggest watching the youtube videos by James from Smoking Dad's BBQ. He has a lot of videos that high lights the limitations of Kamados as well as his work arounds. He also does comparisons of different type of smokers. For the Kamado Joe...

Who here has a Char-Griller AKORN Auto Kamado?

I have had my Auto Kamado for 5 months now and here are my findings - Dull tasting smoke when using standard equipment. I tried using the included deflector and the smoking stone but the results were the same. I also tried using only 1 piece of smoking wood instead of 2 but that didn't help...

Who here has a Char-Griller AKORN Auto Kamado?

I was having issue with my WIFI not connecting and the smoker not remembering the credentials. I spoke with customer service and they sent me a new controller. The new controller is working great, it reconnects automatically.

The new Camp Chef Woodwind Pro looks promising

Burning real wood vs pellets makes a huge difference in quality of the smoke flavor. Burning more pellets add an acidic burnt taste rather than a pleasant rich smoky flavor.

The new Camp Chef Woodwind Pro looks promising

You have to keep in mind that it is also burning pellets along with the wood in the smoke box.

The new Camp Chef Woodwind Pro looks promising

I have a Smoke Daddy Pellet Pro with the Heavy D. Other than over shooting the temps by about 20-30 degrees, it does a good job of adding smoke. My biggest problem with it is that the wood burning only lasts about an hour to an hour and a half. The Camp Chef Woodwind Pro does something...

    Pellet vs charcoal smoker

You might need to replace the fan and hot rod after a few years but the auger and controller should last 5+ years. How much pellet use rate depends on how hot your are cooking and ambient temperature. In CA, I probably use a few of pounds of pellets per 10hr of low and slow cooking. I also...

    Vertical smoker options-

The Smoke Daddy Pellet Pro Vertical is head and shoulders above either than LG or Pit Boss. The best part of it is you can add a Heavy D heat diffuser and burn real wood for the first 30-45mins.

A pellet smoker that actually smokes meat??

Ribs are a good starter cook because it's relatively cheap and you can really get a good sense of smoke flavor (as long as you don't use sauce)

    Weber EX4 pellet grill

I believe people who got the Gen 1 were sent a retro fit kit to upgrade them to Gen 2 as part of their warranty.
