Johnny Trigg and Myron Mixon recipes--UPDATED!!!

I just attended Johnny Triggs class, we cooked chicken pork butts, briskets and ribs, and yeah some of the info here is correct, some is not. He swore on his reputation that what he gave us was his exact recipe, so take that for what its worth. he used sweet-n-heat and rib tickler seasonings...

Ready to start my 2nd build, is an air tank thick enough.

So I built this small smoker to be mobile for camping and such, my 1st smoker ever. I have really enjoyed it but need a bigger one for the deck, I really like the size of the 20 gallon air tanks, but are they thick enough? how thick are they? my 1st is from a 40 pound propane tank and quite thin...

My 1st build, a mini reverse flow smoker using a 40 pound propane tank

Today I added a metal strip inside at the top of the lid to help keep the smoke in, added the grease trap, put in a damper to close of the exhaust on the chimney, reinforced the legs a bit more, added part of a horse shoe for a handle and added my tru temp gauge. all I like is lining the lid...

My 1st build, a mini reverse flow smoker using a 40 pound propane tank

Just finished adding the chimney, all I like is the grease trap in the bottom, lining the door with metal trim and painting it.

how to install a grease catch or grease trap in smoker?

Well, my build is progressing, and after doing a search for "grease trap" and going through 7 pages of stuff I still cant find much. I see a few smokers with a 1 inch pipe and a shut off valve on the bottom to drain the grease, what is the best type of set up? where do you get that shut off...

My 1st build, a mini reverse flow smoker using a 40 pound propane tank

Not much progress to report, I done some measuring top/bottom center, left right ect, and marked some lines, and added a stainless steel rod and handle. bending that half inch stainless rod was a job.

HEEELP!! need assistance figuring out Firebox-to-Cook Chamber Opening

OK, too easy to add one down the middle. with it only being 9 inches between the expanded metal holders welded to the walls one more down the center will put bracing every 4.5 inches.

My 1st build, a mini reverse flow smoker using a 40 pound propane tank

1st I uses aircraft paint remover from Orileys auto parts and a metal putty/scrapping knife, that removed about 80% of it (still was a lot of work), then I used a plastic type paint removing wheel from lowes, it looks like a luffa thingy on a wheel about 1/2 inch wide. the wire wheel in the pic...

HEEELP!! need assistance figuring out Firebox-to-Cook Chamber Opening

I didn't mean it that way, and what you described is right and what I am doing, what I had read said if you put a vent in the front door to feed the fire and push smoke into the CC, you don't want it too low or if will push ash into the CC. but you are right, not everything people post is...
