bmaddox, I'm assuming this is a liner that goes inside the drum, to promote air coming in from all sides while keeping the wood contained?  I hadn't seen this before - good idea!  Were you able to wrap that without heating it?  What's the thickness of this metal - inches or gauge?
 
This is my charcoal basket. I used a light gauge expanded metal from HD that I was able to bend by hand. It took some effort to get it the shape I wanted but it bent pretty easy. The bottom is a pizza pan that catches the ash. 
 
I really like that, and how you held the expanded metal in the shape using nuts and bolts.  Good stuff!
