Well the wife originally planned on ribeyes but I made the grocery pick-up run to the dreaded WM this morning and found some nice, overpriced TT.

These always have a nice fat cap and will smoke like a brisket 🫢
Rubbed down with a light coating of "W" sause and used our favorite flavors to settle in.

And on to the MBGF 1050 @300 loaded with Blues Hog lump and pecan chunks for awhile. Got a late start so gotta crank the temp up!

Thanks for lookin' while I'm cookin'!

Keith

EDIT:
Grocery pick-up got delayed until tomorrow 🙄

And why not add something new?
Smoked butternut squash

Nukes it for 4 minutes and it was pretty easy to slice into halves.
Scooped out the seeds and filled the whole with butter 😁.
Added Lanes Honey Sriracha to one half and Heath Riles Cajun Creloe Garlic Butter to the other so we'll see how that plays out.

Finally got good color and bark at the 2 hr mark so time for some butcher paper and mop !

I like the flavor of the Kosmos Q Brisket mop so brushed some on the paper and added a dab on top 😁

Folded down tight and back in the heat.
Have the temp alarm set for 190 and will start checking for that buttery tenderness!
And we wait some more 😂

Tri tip looks great.
I love smoke butternut squash. I usually cut mine into cubes and use them for BN squash soup.

Thanks and that's a great idea! Might save some the soup! It's my experiment so we'll have to wait and see😆

Looks great so far Keith. Waiting patiently till the end.

I'd call that smoke the New Englander, because of the resemblance in appearance to VT and NH.

Thanks Chris but the wife is NOT patiently waiting 😆.
And now we have a name for the double TT cook!😂

In the smoke to 2 hrs and counting but getting tender! As I told the wife
"Patience grasshopper ' 😂

TT is at 195 and probing like it's ready to come off !

Keith
My wife typically bakes them and makes some kind of soup. I’m not sure what it is I’ve not tried it. But anyway I’ve always thought they should be smoked.

I am aware that it's blasphemy but the TT turned out perfect but not a fan of squash. Guess it's a texture thing.
Pulled the TT at 198 IT and was loaded with flavor and juice. 20240211_181644.jpg
