AMNPS - filling up with Pellets or sawdust

According to the website the AMNPS can smoke for 11 hours on 15 ounces of pellets. Lets say you only want smoke for 2 hours.  Do you have to fill the AMNPS up with nearly a pound of pellets every time you use it?  Or can it be used with a smaller amount?

You can fill 1 row or 3/4 of a row or whatever you think you need. Just keep it all together so it keeps burning. After using it a while you get an idea of how long you will get out of a row. I only get about 8 hours from a full tray of the oak pellets that I'm using right now. I have gotten around 12 hours from some apple pellets. It depends on the pellets and wood type I guess.
