http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/a/reverse-flow-smoker-how-to-calculate-build-tutorial

20 x 20 x .7854 x 38 = 11,940 cu. in.

11,940 x 0.001 = 12 sq. in. FB inlets  2.5" upper, 10" lower...

11,940 x 0.022

0.7854 x 3 x 3       = 37" height of stack above the CC..  You could go bigger than 3" diameter of the stack...   3" pipe is good..(3.07" ID)...  3" exhaust tube is good..  it should be insulated in colder climates....  maybe.....

11,940 x 0.004 = 48 sq. in.

Calculate needed opening.....          calculate 1/2 football opening....          Calculate height of full football opening and RF plate width of 18" wide...

53 sq. in...                                           2.8" ..  27 sq. in...                                 5.6" height of football = 54 sq. in. opening...

.... .......
I think that answers your questions....    There are steps shown that show you how I got to the final answers.....
