Chicagoland Area
Hey there everyone.  Lucas here checking in from the Chicagoland area  I'm new to the smoking meat world, how new?  New enough to not even have a smoker yet (leaning towards the Masterbuilt 30-inch electric).  I love grilling (primarily charcoal but do have propane for quickies), making my own rubs, sauces and marinades and ready to step it up a notch and get into the world of smoking meats.  I've been doing research for a while and decided to officially sign up.  Can't wait to get my feet wet and and soon become active in this community.  I'll be reading mostly for the next several weeks but will post when I can.

Thanks, and see you around!

Lucas, welcome to SMF!  Glad you are here and looking forward to buying a new smoker.  The MES is probably one of the most popular smokers here on the forum.  The other, since you have charcoal experience, is the Weber Smokey Mountain.  Both have their advantages and quirks, but are simple to use.  Both have quick learning curves too.

Have fun!

Good morning and welcome to the forum, from a warm and humid day here in East Texas, and the best site on the web. Lots of great people with tons of information on just about  everything.

Thanks for the warm welcome everyone.  I just ordered the MES 30 Bluetooth.  I don't need the BT capability(wish wifi was available) but I read the internals are a bit better and I get the window which I like, that and it's cheaper than the standard digital 30 w/ window.  I was hoping to get it Saturday but doesn't look like it will arrive until Monday

I've already learned quite a bit here and I'm eager to jump in and get smoking.
