Not sure if they have it other places, but here in Portland (OR), Safeway has whole chicken for $0.88 per/lb. Good time to smoke a few and throw a few into the freezer for later!
Doesnt seem to be on sale here...
Thought those were free road game in Halualoa!
someone had to pay for Oregon getting such good prices...
Wow! Our chickens just went up 20% last week. This is getting ridulcious......
Thats OK, butcher called this morning, asked if I would like some .99/lb butts!
Ya dang straight she does! Doesn't yours? I have a good butcher, I always send her some of whatever I make for her opinion, and she helps me when she can. When I started my first bacon, she told me she had a case of bellies taking up space she needed in her freezer, she said she'd hold 'em for me till I pulled 'em all, she'd slice 'em and package 'em after I made bacon, and I could have the bellies at .50/lb. LOL Turned out to be 7 bellies. She got one slab everytime I did a bellie. You butcher has your number? [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Now she's most definately a friend. when she heads to her camp, she always asks for some of my sausage and andouille, and I oblige.
Back when I raised a few cows and pigs I was the same. I raised an extra pig for the butcher every year, but that butcher retired. AND I just got rid of the last chicken last year!!! I don't have to feed anything but me!! Not in the rain, not in the cold, not in a hurricane or so I've been told.I only use my butcher to slaughter, hang and cut up one of my cows. Everything else I get from a regular store. That's actusl all he does is custom cut beef...
Btw, I stopped by my local Safeway and no sale here; $1.99 a lb. I can get the same bird at Costco for $1.29 a lb...
