To owners of the model 2;
How deep are the shelves?
Will a shelf hold 2 racks of ribs without cutting?
Will it even hold 1 whole rack?
I have read that the shelf was 15x15 or 15x20 or 15x22
Thanks for any help

I just measured my self.....and it is 15" deep (in my PM I wrote 14 but was wrong)   I usually cut my racks in half and maximize the space I do have.  I have never had any issues cooking a load of meat.  I have done full packers without having to cut them. I have done 4 8 lb Butts in that bad boy and had 8 whole chickens in there at one time.

Any aversion to cutting the racks?

Not really I guess. I was hoping that I could put two racks side by side on a shelf. That would leave the other shelves for other things. I think I could do that with the #3 but since I already have over $1000 in the Lang, I don't really want to go over $500.

The shelves in my cookshack are 14X18 so I either cut the ribs in half or leaving them whole place at an angle. It just depends upon what I am doing and the quantity being smoked. The SI 3 does have large shelves which is a real plus and far outweighs the increased cost factor. But you should do fine with the SI 2.

I think I will go with the #2 . if a brisket fits at an angle a rack probably will also. If I have to cut then so be it
Thanks.

My full packer fit in straight front to back.  I know you are going to love the SI 2
