Hello All,

So my father in law has this huge cast iron griddle thats been laying in his garage a while. According to the markings in the image it is a 1987 griddle from Wagner Mfg. I haven't checked with a tape but I would say it's easily 36''x24''. He doesn't really have a use for it so I offered to take it off his hands and now I'm trying to find some information on it. I did all kinds of google and ebay and other searches and I can't find anything even similar or even information. So if anyone has any information about the quality/value of this product I'd love to know! My plan is to clean it up, check for cracks and re-season to use for a big camp griddle, so if anyone could give me some tips on how to season this thing since it wont fit in any oven/grill that I have, I'd really appreciate that too. Thanks!

Martin, I was going to register with them a few days ago and after reading all the warnings and spiteful little notes during the registration process I decided that forum was not for me. I understand that they must be having issues with people abusing the forum, but they come off almost threatening to potential new members and not welcoming at all. There are ways to deal with problems without public ranting. Maybe I'm just too used to the professionalism of the admins here at SMF. but thank you Martin for the suggestion.
Aside from info/value, would anyone have a seasoning method to suggest for something this big?

First of all you'll need to sand the rust off. Then the easiest thing I can see is spray it with cooking oil and set it overtop of the fire for an hour. After it cools do it again for 2 or 3 more times and you should be good to go. It would be real easy after you use it to scrub it with a brush and warm water and then dry it and shoot on more spray oil and set it back over the fire 5 minutes to set the coating for the next use.

Beezer, haven't done anything with it yet, probably going to be a spring job, but I will be employing the method you gave me when the time comes, thanks!
