So new to smokeing I dont even have a smoker yet so I need help

Hi everyone my name is Chris I live 50mi north west of Pittsburgh, PA. I'm 23 and learning how to BBQ/ Smoke is my New Year's resolution...That is after I build a smoker!! And that is where I need help.  I'm looking at making a Big Baby Smoker (BBS) using 2 55gal drum/ barrel.... The reason why I'm thinking about making a BBS is cost, ease of building, and due to the large fire box, I should be able to use it year round eaiser, right? But I'm still open to any smoker design.... I plan on  smoking ribs, boston butt, baby back ribs, chicken, salmon, cheese, sausage, bacon, and briskets, turkey etc.... Thanks for any advice

For an easy smoker build (if that is what you choose to do) a UDS (Ugly Drum Smoker) is hard to beat for cost and ease of use.

Otherwise, I suggest a WSM (Webber Smokey Mountain cooker).  An 18.5" is going for $300 and a 22.5" goes for $400 on Amazon but you may be able to find one cheaper on e-Bay.

Good luck and good smoking....don't forget to post lots of Q-view when you finally do take the plunge.

Thanks S2K9K & PGSmoker.... I was thinking about an UDS a friend of mine said he could get me couple of drum so I figured I would just add them together and make a bigger smoker if it would work then he told me that he can weld and he would help we weld anything up that I want then I told him thanks now I don’t know what I want lol... I know would rather make one so I could I can have the way I want and pride that I made it and I promise there will be pics when I build it...
