Hey everyone,

My name is Steven, and I am from Mason, Ohio.  But please don't call me a Buckeye, I am originally from Kansas and an graduate of Pittsburg State (Go...Gorillas!), and a Jayhawk fan.  I currently use a Weber 22.5" to do my smoking, and a Tru Infrared Grill for other grilling, my winter project is to complete an UDS.  I have gotten really busy with requests to smoke ribs and other items for parties (I am doing 6 St. Louis style racks this wekend for a neighbors party), and I recently started saving for something larger.  I have a three year old daughter and an 11 month old son, both of which love my cooking and especially the meat that comes off the weber.  I prefer to do my own smoking since I have yet to be pleased with any bbq in cincinnati, and this goes for Montgomery Inn also.  If you have a suggestion, I am always open to find something good.  My best story to demonstrate the BBQ knowledge around here is when my family(mostly from KC) went to eat at Jim Dandy's and my dad asked if they had any burnt ends and they looked at him strange and replied "Oh, we don't burn our food here". We almost got up and walked out. Sorry, If I offended any Ohioans.  Could you suggest a smoker?

to SMF!  We are so glad you joined us!

We love to see pictures of what you are cooking (or what we call q-views here at SMF).  To "upload the q-views" just follow the directions here and it will be easier. If you are using a cell phone, an IPad or a kindle, go to the main SMF page and click the Mobile button. Will make the uploads a bit faster too.

If you didn't read the "Terms of Service" notes.....please do.  There are a few things that everyone should know about those pesky little rules before plunging into the forums and some guidelines of how to interact within the forums. Off site links are not allowed here at SMF per TulsaJeff (the forum owner). Not that you have done anything wrong....just a little bit of FYI for new members!

If you need any help roaming around the forums....just holler!  Happy to help out!

Welcome to the forums, Steven!  This is the best place I know for sharing ideas on smoking, grilling, curing, etc.  There are plenty of friendly, knowledgeable folks who really enjoy helping one another.  Looking forward to your input here, and just ask when you need anything...someone here will surely have the answer.

What smoker type are you looking to upgrade to?  If you want bigger than that 22.5 WSM or a UDS, you're probably looking at a stick burner or a high end vertical (electric, pellet, gravity feed charcoal, etc.).  Lots of good rigs out there depending on what you want to spend.
