Q-MATZ is Greek to me.....

What does this mat look like??
didn't know either just looked it up at A-Maze-N-Smoker it is a food safe fiber glass mate small mesh to keep food from falling through it easy to clean.

I Googled the  Q-MATZ and came up with this link.http://www.smokingmeatforums.com/t/135898/amazen-q-matz-product-test-results-now-available

In looking at the pictures, it appears to me that even with the Q-MATZ,  that the Smoker Racks still get quite a bit of food stuck to them. In the case of smoking cheese, I can see where the Q-MATZ may help some, but not sure they help that much with meats such as ribs, brisket, pork roasts, etc etc. as the pictures show having to clean up both the mats and burned on food on the racks.

As I posted, I just smoked some cheese and some salmon fillets. The cleanup wasn't nearly as bad as in the past when the cheeses melted into the metal racks. The Q-MATZ prevented this.

I found these "grates" at walmart , cheap and cleanable but also cheap enough to throw away if its to much too clean !

i have used them for everything from cheese to ABT's to meatloaf and shrimp.

the best part is you can load and prep the food on it and carry the food to the smoker.

And you can pick up the Q-matz around the food because they don't hold the heat like the food or the racks.  You just lift it out onto a baking sheet so it can't fall apart.  Rick I found Ezra!  See pic below.

I'll have to put a piece of tape over Brooks and write DaRicksta.  Ezra DaRicksta!  Not too shabby lol.

That's great to know about the Q-MATZ. I hadn't noticed since I was smoking at low temps when I used them.

Kurt, like the Ezra who was my dad-in-law and the bourbon whiskey in whose name and memory I buy...you are a great man. Too align my name with his would be an honor. I gotta get my own masking tape out and change Brooks to Ferrell on the current bottle I have.

When I have used my SI2 enough, I'll just scrape the inside ceiling with a plastic scraper. Run the rack rails through the dishwasher too. Always clean my grates after a cook.

I do. My grates/racks see various meats. I don't like goose fat in my Beef Jerky etc. between meats I soak racks n catch pan in dilute HOT bleach water. Then I am VERY careful to rinse them thoroughly if I used a Scotch-brite Scrubbie to get em clean...a steel wire brush is a No-no on my planet. Once a year I take it to the Car Wash, first removing only the LP burner and it's hose...to get the corrosive effects of Salt n sauces off things. 30+ yrs and I'm still smokin'. Locomotiveman
