I'm regularly exposed to both side's propaganda when it comes to politics and I'm often left wondering what's real or not. I can say that both sides are utterly convinced that the future of American democracy rides on this election. Social media platforms and the media make money from views and they often get this engagement from rage clicks. If you are pissed off you are more likely to engage. This has real world consequences and we are seeing them. We don't yet know what this guy's motivations were. People are making up facts to push their own agenda. We can either see this as something to further divide our nation or we can see it as a wakeup call.

As soon as the suspect's name was released, there were almost immediately fake social media accounts popping up to paint the shooter as radical left, radical right, U.S. agent, foreign agent, and just about anything else convenient to someone's agenda and narrative. Even the most virtuous news reporter has an incredibly difficult time sorting wheat from chaff in the moment.

Real journalism takes time, money, and effort; ragebait is just so much easier.

Dr Ruth seemed ancient when I was a little kid, had no idea she was still around!

A twenty year old math nerd, who either had no social media accounts or they had been wiped clean, buys the correct sized ladder to reach to his desired position that morning, was also flagged that morning as being a person of interest, manages to get up on a roof top deemed to steep by the SS to be of any concern and is seen laying in basically a horizontal pron position. All the time this was going on the different depts. responsible for protection had no easy means of clear/direct communication with each other. Heck even the CinC didn't know the head of the SS was a female. He referred to her as a him. Also it only took one very quick shot for the SS sniper to take out this 20 year old. Something doesn't sound right here. It's got me remembering how two 20 yr olds brought Boston to it's knees back in 2013.

A math nerd would certainly be a good pick for knowing his trigonometry and getting the right-sized ladder. Fortunately, it seems he did not calculate his windage as accurately.

The Secret Service scandals in recent years make me wonder if Biden's dog had the right idea in not trusting them. Said scandals include, among other incidents, letting the president ride the elevator with a contractor who they did not realize had a gun on him; not stopping a knife-wielding fence-jumper before he ran well into the White House; all manner of drunken escapades including a hit-and-run *at an active crime scene* near the WH; getting caught with prostitutes in at least a half dozen different countries; ignoring gunfire at the WH until housekeeping spotted the bullet holes four days later; and getting duped by a couple of scammers, possibly foreign agents, who "just wanted to be friends."

Maybe we should just do like the Vatican and hire the Swiss Guards. Those guys seem to know how to do the job far, far better.
