They didn't reach temp before I needed to go to sleep. So by that point I was afraid they were too low for too long. Bummer. Waste of chickens, but at least I had gotten lucky and got them super cheap. I'm ready to try again soon! I'm going to look for a wok pan while out today. As far as a good thermometer ill have to wait, my goal is to get. It up to temp and make it stay there. Then ill go from there I guess. :)

The square grilling wok makes a huge difference. I would also recommend getting a cheap pair of long metal tongs or welder gloves to pull the basket in and out with. Also, I would get a charcoal chimney if you don't have one already.

I don't have a charcoal chimney and boy was it fun getting them lit with nothing to help but paper and veg oil, I'm thinking that was the thing that lead off to a poor start. I definitely need the pan before trying again, the little area for the coals is just too small and they kept getting smothered. Tongs and gloves, check. :)

Don't get discouraged - you know what you need to do now so you'll kick its butt next time

Then you'll want to smoke everything you get your hands on

After a few more smokes, that smoker will seal up any other air gaps (door hinges, etc...) that would let heat out and that will help in maintaining your temp too.

Oh I a.ready do want to smoke everything. My attempt may have failed but it was still a very fun experience and I know what to look forward to, the chicke s weren't fully cooked but they looked so good. And I can't wait to feed my family awesome stuff from the smoker. :) just need to time it right and have a few more tools and I'm ready

so 6hr chicken that you didnt even take a bite of?..lol. thats a long chicken smoke..i'd of taken at least a tiny bite, hahaha. but i dont blame ya for not eating them. as youve found out heat/temp management is first and foremost in the Q game. im sure youll have plenty more smokes in the future and each will be better and better. get out there and practice practice practice!! have fun.

I sure will practice .it was fun. No I didn't taste it, yes it was cooking a long time but was only 150 the whole time. Did want to chance it. Can't wait to try agian. :)
