Ever since I'e changed careers and became an over the road trucker, i havent been able to smoke as much as I wouldv liked. In fact I havent smoked anything in 6 months and its killing me. Being stuck in a small truck isnt the most ideal situation for someone who loves to smoke. Boy do I miss the days of firing up the smoker and throwing on a butt, or ribs and enjoying the day and all the smells and yummyness. Anyway, I've been getting the bug even more as of late and need to get a fix...lol. I've been really thinking of buying me a smoker and somehow strapping it down to the catwalk on the back of the truck. I think a electric smoker would work rather well and I could even smoke while driving down the road. What do you guys think. If i dont smoke something soon Im going to loose it. Also, do you guys have any recommendations on a relatively small electric smoker? I need one big enough to do just a rack of ribs or maybe a small pork butt. Nothing to big...something simple. Also if anyone out there is in the same situation im in, let me know how you did it. Thanks peeps for your time.

Wow that is a very interesting idea. I would not say it is the craziest idea, but would there be a concern with possible fire issues?

But if I was to try this I would maybe go in this direction.....

Smoker: MES ( Masterbuilt Electric Smoker) no water in the pan. I would do the sand and foil method. My biggest concern would be grease getting on the heating element and catching fire.

Amaze-N-Pellet smoker: not sure how the wind or extra air will effect it. Possible fire concern...

A remote thermometer to monitor the temps from the cab. I am looking at a Maverick ET732 for myself.

Some areas of concern I am seeing:

Fire safety.
Keeping the electric unit dry. They don't like water.
Securing it in a way that you keep it from falling off while driving.
Keeping you safe at the stops. When the other drivers smell what you got cooking............ You may have to defend yourself....
