As was said earlier tri tip is generally on sale around $3.99 here in So Cal. That would be choice grade. I love mine smoked. I’ve never seared one but you will not be disappointed. You are well versed in the method and that’s a great piece of meat to work with. Enjoy that beef. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

Thanks G! I'm excited about it. Just going to grill it like I do my filets. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Looks great to me Hawg! I’m a recent tri-tip convert.

I’m on the high end of the spectrum for tri-tip prices. $13.50/lb for readily available tri-tip. I could get it cheaper if I ordered a case through a butcher.

As for $7.99/lb? I would gladly pay that if it’s available to me at that price. I look at it this way, since it’s just my wife and I, a $16 tri-tip is basically $8 a plate for us...If we do a vegetable, potato and/or grain we’re still under $10 a plate....MUCH cheaper than if we went out to a restaurant and most likely better too!

$13.50/lb?....they could keep it.

Sorry for all the early morning numbers. Math makes my head hurt.

Thank you sir! I was thinking the same thing. I haven't looked around for tri-tip because this butcher always has top quality beef. We spent less than what center cut filets would have cost and in our view the tri-tip was more tender, juicy and flavorful than the filets we buy there. I'm glad they are readily available at my local butcher.
