Got a Brinkmann Electric Gourmet for Christmas. Wanting to install a River Country 2" dial temp gauge, with a 21/2in stem. Where is the best place to put it to get the most accurate reading.

Thx in advance....

I don't think you will get a accurate reading no matter were you put it.  I would put it in the top 3/4 the way up then watch and learn what temp it needs to get to to have the temp at the grate you want. I would fill the water pan with sand and get a good therm like the mav et-732 so you can see temp at grate and food IT.

Just read a post here a few days ago where the person suggested (can't remember who, CRS) to pre-heat on hi and open a can of biscuits and placing them in different areas of the smoker to see what spots where hot or cooler. Seems logical.

I have seen this too Linguica,  I also saw where you can put slices of bread all over your grate and close it up for 5-10 min then see where the burnt ones are.
