fire box is way hot but smoker side will not get over 150-170
HELP

there is a knock out panel between fire box and somer side
knocking it out would remove the little 4-way spinner vent and open it up
should I knock it out?

That needs to be removed before heat and smoke can enter. You may have to wait for the coals to go out though. I removed mine with the firebox disconnected from the unit..... But at least your firebox is now seasoned !!!

yes I assembled it and no i t did not say to knock it out
i gonna do it right now

just a B F H and a couple of wacks presto
im at 225 do i now run the risk of to much heat?

A set of tongs and remove coals if needed. Also play with adjusting the air flow to the fire box to adjust your heat. Leave the damper on the grill wide open though.

245 deg
put ribs on now
be ready for half time
can i throw baked potatoes in for a couple of hours
