Almost had a smoker meltdown.  Have used pellets many times in my wood chip tray in my Cajun Injector with no issues.  Very cold this morning so the element was running full on to get up to temp.  Got a big puff of smoke and realized my pellets must have ignited.  pulled out the flaming pan with the giant silicone barbeque glove on and threw it in the snow.  Back to the soaked chips for now and some soaked hickory chunks.  May have to invest in an AMAZN pellet smoker to use my pellets more safely.  Anybody else seen this?

bakedbean, morning....  It is a good idea to preheat the smoker in this weather.... Hind Sight is 20-20 you know... They are all valuable learning experiences...  we "ALL" have had them, at least a few times....  Dave

Thanks for the links. Good info. Just for some more details.. i had vent almost all the way open. Was using hickory pellets. Had the wood tray pretty full. Maybe too full. Will be getting the AMZNPS when budget allows.
