I don't know if this has been done here before but I had some hot dogs going on the smoker and Mrs. Tanker gave me an idea. Why not put the cookies in the smoker to see how they come out. They didn't turn out bad - in fact, they were pretty good. I used charcoal with a bit of mesquite and some oak. The family and I love hot dogs done in the smoker.

Cookie dough ready for the smoker...

Dogs just about done.....

Dinner time!.....

And dessert....

Thanks for checking in,

Never would have thought to put them in the smoker. The big question is would you do them that way from now on?

My wife was just saying something the other day about putting a cake or some brownies in the smoker. Cookies would work too. I might just have to try it.

Bassman, I don't blame ya for drawing the line at the smoked sweets. I admit that when the Mrs. suggested it, even I cringed a little. But they actually came out pretty good. Although it's not a breakthrough, it does open up a couple of doors to the imagination of sweet treats a la smoke.

Dawn, I would bake cookies again in the smoker. Next time I'm going to try them with some pecan wood or maybe cherry if I can get ahold of some.

Wutang, after the Mrs. tried the cookies, she suggested making some brownies and/or a cake in the smoker too. We brainstormed a couple of ideas that I'll post if/when I make them.
