I'm looking for a good rub for smoked chicken and wondered if some of you pros could help me. I like it somewhat sweet and somewhat spicy but not overpowering. I enjoy some chili pepper but I'm not a great fan of seasonings that are heavy on chili peppers. I purchased Jeff's sauce and rub recipes. They are great, but I thought some of you may have a rub specifically for chicken. Thanks in advance.

I can't go so far as to say I'm a professional, but I do make pretty much all my ribs and spice mixes. This is the first one I ever put together. Never used it on chicken because my wife is allergic to it but I've used it on a ton of turkey. It is simple but has outstanding flavor. Sounds very much along the lines of what you're looking for. Of course you can do the fingertip taste test and adjust more to your preferences.

½ Cup Paprika
¼ Cup Black Pepper
¼ Cup Sugar
3 T Salt
3 T Chili Powder
2 T Garlic Powder
2 T Onion Powder
1 T Cayenne Pepper
