was reading a post the other day about the varying quality of an item from walmart as opposed to the same item being sold somewhere else but being better made. so how would this affect an item like the food saver that is for sale at wallyworld and at sams club, would it be any better from sams or is it the same one wallyworld carries? just wondering....

The trucks from wally's world, deliver the same crates to sam's club on the same days. It's the same company!!

i knew it was the same company just wondering about any difference in any of the products i know sams carries some stuff that wally world doesn't

Looks like to me a Foodsaver would be the same where ever you bought it. They ought to be the same from Walleyworld to Basspro.

some post the other day was talking about a smoker at wally world and the same smoker at another store same model and all but was better made and heavier.just wondering how wide spread this may be.

Any self-respecting manufacturing company wouldn't make a lower quality product just for Wal-Mart or Sam's Club.

They may, however, cave in to the incredible buying power of the chain stores and sell their products to the above stores for a lower price in order to move a larger volume of their product.

Well you'd like to think so, but more than one company has moved their manf. overseas to be able to compete within the Sam's/Walmart business model. I gotta believe quality suffers when that happens. Levi's is the first that comes to mind, but there are many more.

I guess I should have specified....

Any self-respecting AMERICAN company....

Once they move operations off of American soil, I don't consider them to be an American company any more.

Foodsavers are made in china! I would imagine they all suck the same. hehehe pun intended!

A question I've always had about them, is what if any significant difference is there among some of the model numbers? Like a 2440, 2640, 2840, etc. I see some are chrome, but otherwise I can't discern any functional difference among the others, at least not in looking at them or reading the product description. Of course the GameSavers are able to do more consecutive seals, but I can't tell a difference among the basic models.

Most likely they are just slight changes in the design that don't warrant a description in the unit details list. Maybe the covering over the sealer strip has been modified slightly.....maybe they used a different rubber foot on this model.....etc...

Daddio,

It is true that Wal-Mart stores and Sam's Club's are divisions of the same company. (Wal-Mart Inc., which also operates many other divisions of retail outlets) However, it is not true that it's all the same product. The buyer that buys a food saver for Wal-Mart is not the same buyer that buys the food saver for Sam's. The same is true with socks, radio's, ring's... what ever. Each buyer has margin goals that he/she must hit. In some cases the Sam's buyer may be able to afford to pay for more quality in a certain item where the Wal-Mart buyer could not. Unfortunately for us, it's not always the case. Sometimes, it may be the same item. Sometimes, the Wal-Mart buyer may be able to afford more quality. Just like comparing Wal-Mart to Target or Sears or where ever, you can't always determine the best value. Thanks to great forums like this one, you can often do some research and get first hand knowledge from end users and make your decision that way. I don't have any comments on the food saver I just wanted to chime in on the differences (or similarities) between Wal-Mart and Sam's.

Good luck with your search for a good food saver.

well put

usually if walmart and sams have the same item, the will have a slightly different feature and be just enough different that it warrants a different model number. typically at sams you get more features, or more extras for about the same price as walmart. we bought ours at sams and i believe it came with more bags to begin with and had a setting that the one at walmart didnt have.

Several years ago I was shopping for a new TV in Denver. I went to 5 different places and was looking for a specific make. What was interesting that I found 3 different models of the same TV. The model numbers were the same except for the last letter. Some were "A" and so on. I finally found someone that could tell me the difference between the models which was internal. One had PIP without a second receiver. One had PIP with the receiver and the other didn't have PIP at all. One of the stores I was shopping at was COSTCO. They had the best buy but none of the extra features. I would suggest if the model numbers are identical the product would be the same...

also by having model number 1000a at walmart, 1000b at target, 1000c at costco, they can say the models are different and they wont price match.
