Hi all, I am brand spanking new to the world of smoking.  I just bought my first smoker yesterday.  A 40" Masterbuilt Electric Smoker.  I pre-seasoned it last night but haven't got to cook with it yet.  Can't wait to try it out. Any suggestions on what I should smoke first?

to SMF!!! We're happy to have you! Congrats on the MES! A good first smoke is chicken. It's cheap, in case it doesn't come out good. It's easy to do, so it probably will come out good. It doesn't take that long, so you won't have a lot of time involved but you will have enough to get an idea of how your smoker is working. Fatties are real easy and 3-2-1 ribs are pretty easy too.

Would you do us a favor and update you profile to include your location, it helps when people offer advice, Thanks!

Also since you are new to this you might want to take Jeff's Free 5 day E-course, it will teach you all the basics and a lot more:

Hello Roll Tide and

to SMF - glad to have you here

Welcome to SMF! Glad to have you. Be sure to take the 5 day e-course. It is very informative. I would say to go with chicken first also. Leg quarters or whole chickens are great. Find a good rub, or just buy Jeffs rub and sauce. They are great and support this site. Good smoking.

Mike
