I wanted to get a thread going to see what everyone has planned for the fourth of July this year. Whether it is local festivities in the backyard (let us know what you are cooking) or the town bbq bash, let us know what is going on in your neck of the woods.

For me, I have two party's and I am not cooking at either one haha I have my friends and then we scootch over to my uncle who will be making some mean steaks on the grill !!!!

The town we live in has been having a parade since way before I was born and we usually do that first thing in the morning. After my uncles we will be heading back to my hometown for the fireworks at night.

Drive north to cabin, drink, cook, drink, swim, drink, cook, drink, dance, fall down, get a$$ chewing, sleep, repeat as needed.

We have a parade in our little town too. After, we all go to Mom's. I'll be making pulled pork sammies, fatties turned into burgers and kielbasa.
With the usual sides, coleslaw, potato salad and baked beans.

Since weather has finally settled into summer here and we will be almost done with J.V. baseball (Distrticts are on 5th july) we are planning first big bbq get together with friends at our place.

So far menu is probably going to be, pulled pork, pulled and sliced brisket. Grilled jalepeno/lime marinaded shrimp. Maybe some homemade boneless hot wings (smoked chicken breast cut into strips then rolled in wing sauce). The wife will be dealing with all the other eats - various dips and chips, ramen noodle salad and probably some other kind of salad.

Then the kids can watch us "responsible" adults do some fireworks. Ooops scrub that last part ..... fireworks are illegal in Iowa

Plan to keep it simple this year, so basically smoke about 4 or 5 of our favorite fattie concoctions, maybe some ABT's, drink some ice cold beer, and blow sh*t up

Got my 6th annual 4 July party, but this year it is being combined with my Army retirement party! Precooking everything, want to enjoy the day, not work it. Already have 16 pounds of prepared pulled pork, still have 20 pounds of chicken quarters to do and 8 racks of spares. Wife will make a few gallons of tater salad and I'll do a few gallons of Dutch's beans the day before. Usually have 35-40 folks over, this year, expecting 80-100, capped off with trying to blow up the neighborhood!

Enjoy seboke , a well earned , and deserved 4th of July blast if I ever heard of one

May this be your best Independance Day celebration yet , only to be topped next year

I'm supposed to be on call for work, but someone is volunteering to take it. I'm thinking of doing ribs and some beer can chickens cause my girls don't like ribs (go figure). In addition to some sides we usually make real lemonade and homemade ice cream, maybe Guinness again

. Seboke, enjoy you're party and your much deserved retirement. Sincere thanks for your service. (don't destroy too much geography).

Our family is going to a SF Giants game on the 3rd. First pro game for my 9 year old son and 7 year old daughter. My son's little league team was the Giants this year so he is pretty excited.

Will spend the night in SF and drive back (about 3 hours) on the 4th. Maybe hit the annual party my wife's coworker has. No smoked meats but pretty good BBQ just the same.

I'll have to line up something to smoke on the 5th maybe -- thinkin' bout some ribs and ABTs.

Have a good 4th all.

Dave

The weekend of the 4th. will be big here. My wife and I are having a BBQ with 100 or so of our closest family and friends. This is the 3rd. year we're doing it except this time, the smoker is the guest of honor....thanks to y'all!
I have 14 racks of ribs, 30 lbs. leg quarters, 10lbs porkchops, 10 lbs. sausage, 2 butts for pulled pork, ground chuck for fatties, mama is making burgers, Dutch's recipe for the pork loin, Roast beef with brown gravy, and I have a whole ribeye to cut for the grill. For the sides we got baked beans, jambalaya, veggie casserole, slaw, potato salad, and greenbeans....that I know of. We have a friend that likes to bring stuff like crawfish monica, and stuffef bell peppers with shrimp and crabmeat. Gotta love Miss Ruthie! Of, course we'll be prepping a few days in advance. I plan to take plenty Qview as requested. With me luck!.... and HAPPY 4th!

cooken for the church on the 4th doing loins, got our annual block party on the 5th doing a butt ,brisket and beef ribs for the neigbor, probably some serious recovery on the 6th

Well being in Florida it's tough call. I was told to clean the freezer out some so it's between a boston butt, shrimp, or amberjack. Win, win maybe I'll cook some of each.

Awesome responses, I was hoping to get a nice response when I posted this thread and as usual, you all are coming through.

Seboke, good luck and congrats with retirement. Well deserved party....... but just leave enough neighborhood for your party next year !!!!

Keep the posts coming, I know more of you out there have more party's planned and fun activities to attend.

As always remember to post the qview of all the festivites and all enjoy and have a safe and happy 4th.

Will be in Tulsa at my parents (bro is there, too) for a mini-family reunion as my mom's two brothers are coming in as well as one cousin & his family. It will be great to see them.

We will definitely have pork butts and chicken. I will probably add ABT's and fatties to that.

Dad has an ECB electric that my bro and I bought for him. Will work on him about a drum possibly.

No party at my house, but I have been informed that I must make some fatties and ABTs to take to one of the family gaterings. I have to work 12 hrs on the 3rd, and the 5th, so my time is limited. Probably pull an early morning on the 4th to get things ready.

Seboke - I cannot thank you enough for your service to our country. It is men and women like you who allow us to celebrate this holiday in the first place. Enjoy.

Taking the wife and kids far away from the GOSM to my parent's lake house for the 4th... Been trying to convince myself they need an ECB out there so I can do a butt and maybe a faty or two (or ten

).

The only problem with that is my son and I are usually out on the lake fishing or swimming so it might be difficult to tend to the smoker with any amount of regularity!
