Howdy!

I just bought a Pit Boss 820FB Pellet Smoker.

Question:  If the onboard temp controller isn't within 10-20 degress tolerance and I have an Auber PID controller, is it adaptable for the Pit Boss configuration, or would I need to get a PID Controller specifically for the pellet smoker?  I'm probably selling all my grills and smokers.  I would like to sell the Auger with the Komado grill.

Thanks,

I'm going to say no, I have an auber controller that I use on my offset I also have a retro fitted pellet smoker and there's no way my controller would operate the pellet. Here's a link to the pellet controller that's on mine and it's guaranteed to hold +/- 5 which it does and normally better then that. It says it's compatible with pit boss but it might be worth it to call and discuss first. I ordered the entire pellet system which I installed in an old smoker.

Along with the PelletPro PID,another good option to consider is the Savannah Stoker controller.

Not sure what you mean by 10-20 degree tolerance. Are you talking about temperature swings, or variance between actual and displayed temperature? Either way, I wouldn't worry much about > 20 degrees as long as it's consistent.

Thanks, y'all!  You confirmed my suspicions.

bregent, I was referring to temp swings.  I should have been more specific.

Thank you both for your response.
