PID Questions

Just got a new controller from Masterbuilt. Seems to work fine. Looking at a PID just for giggles, and the fact that I want to smoke birds higher than 275. I have a couple of questions for the PID guys:
1 Will the actual box stand up to the higher heat that I'm gonna cook with?
2 What delay settings do you use between the temp reading and element turning on?
3 What temp variation do you use (+- 4 degrees)?
4 Stock element in a MES 40 work just fine (I would assume it would)?

A MES box will not stand up to too much extra heat. I can't remember the exact temp, but I generally don't run mine over 310.

I have not had my Auber PID controller for long but have so far found the factory default settings seem to work fine for me.
