Hello all. Wel today I decided I was going to cook a brisket for the first time. So I went to the closest place to my house and got a 4lb brisket flat and I already have my rub and marinade at home. Now I know that I have to trim some of the fat and stuff but my question is since its not a whole one just about half (for me only) how long will I need to smoke it since its a flat and it's a smaller size? Will it still be a whole 7 to 8 hours or do will it be a little shorter like 4 or 5 hrs..if you all could help me out with some advice on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.  P.s I do have a injector what's some opinions on using it with a brisket:drool

The common rule of thumb is "1 1/2 -2 hours a pound" plus rest time. Doesnt matter if its 2 pounds or 40 pounds, still the same.Cooked to a I.T. of 195 for slicing or 205 for shredding.
