I am old and don't remember that.
Dang Farmer, you missed out. I’m not that old, but my parents would take us kids to the drive in theater and we would eat those delicious hamburgers with homemade French fries and put peanuts in or coke,,, uhhg so good, they just passed it along. This was the 70’s.

Yup I was born in 70. It sounds crazy, but you should give it a whirl. It’s that perfect sweet/salty combination. I think it was actually more of a 40’s to 50’s thing, but it’s good in any generation. Kinda fun actually, definitely different.

Was thinking of this the other day. I don’t drink soda as a basic rule anymore really for a lot of years, but was remembering those salted roasted peanuts in a bottle of coke. It’s still very satisfying.
Like you, I don't drink sodas anymore, but I do remember that very well...

Grew up in yankee land, I always heard it referred to as a bankers lunch. We would do it every time went fishing.
I had never heard of boiled peanuts till I moved home here in the south though.

I remember dumping Planter's peanuts into a bottle of coke quite well when I was a teener, and that was a long time ago. RAY

Ok, question. Was it the peanuts that made the coke better or the coke that made the peanuts better? When the coke was gone did you just tip the bottle and eat the peanuts? This is absolutely foreign to me so very curious.

Wow! A blast from the past! Ok, born mid 50’s, so in the 60’s, some definitely put peanuts in coke. I wouldn’t say it was a staple, but it was a thing.

For those of you that are younger, you missed out on some great memories! A company made these round ice cream scoop sized containers that you stuck into your coke bottle and sucked through the opposite end…they held your favorite ice cream!
