I been wanting a stick burner for few years to do my hot smoking, but did not want to spend the price for a good one like a Lang

and my electric converted fridge has been doing some very good Q.

After some thought and searching through the forms my goal was to find something a little more user friendly than  stick burner.

I don't want to tend a fire all day,  as I am spoiled with ease of the electric, but I still wanted something better to hot smoke in.

During  my search I came across the Weber Smoky Mountain.  I did some research on it and seen all the happy owners out there and learned

that it is as close as set and forget as you can get with a charcoal smoker.

So I took the plunge and purchased the WSM 22 from Amazon.  Put it together last night

I wanted to fire it up in the living room, but the wife thought it was a bad idea...Smart lady

Congrats , brother. That is a fine cooker. I have the 18.5 and I've been very happy with it. Skip the water in the pan when you do that chicken and you will have a tasty bird with nice crispy skin.

good luck , man. Post some pitchas!

You are going to love the WSM.

I also have a 18.5" model that I bought in 2005 and will never part with it.  I added a BBQ Guru DigiQ control unit and fan a year later and that makes the WSM as close to the set and forget electric as you can get.  Get some "as is" smokes under your belt, but at some point a power draft like the Guru is a worthwhile investment I would recommend to any WSM owner.
