Hello from Michigan! New to the site and new to smoking so please excuse my rookie questions. I just bought a small electric smoker so I am more of a weekend warrior trying to out do his buddies at the picnic table. I look forward to learning all I can from you all and appreciate all your experience!

I'm looking at the back of my left hand trying to figure out where you are.

Jump in to the conversations, use the Search to see how others use the same smoker you're using. Ask questions and we will answer.

Oh then you must know the Sleeping Bear Dunes, which is the most promising park name I've ever seen. I was not disappointed. But their campsite was booked so we pushed on to Leelanau, got the second-to-last campsite, got to ring the bell and even got to honk the hand-held fog horn in the lake rescue museum.

This from a Buckeye.

I have never visited sleeping bear but leelanau and the surrounding areas are beautiful. I am about an hour and a half to two hours south. We have rented cabins up that way in the past and loved it. And being wine country up there is definitely a hit with the wife.

You can't be to awful far from me. About a half hour north and east of Muskegon. In the cold and snow. I've learned more visiting this forum than in all my time on my own. Much experience to be shared here.

I am just north of Ravenna. Out in the east end of Muskegon County. Do you use your smoker in these temps. I used mine last Saturday on some ribs and smoked macaroni and cheese. It turned out great. I guess I’m too used to the cold because I never gave it a thought. Could it cause problems with cooking?

Smoked a leg of lamb and a ribeye roast on Christmas. Worked like a champ. So well insulated snow collected on the top while it was running.
