We'll I just want to start off by explaining what I have and I'm currently using a gas grill and a small electric smoker. I want a new smoker but I like the idea of a grill/smoker. I have been looking at Traeger and Green Mountain and Louisiana Grill. I noticed the Traeger and Louisiana have a separate cold smoker attachment. I would really like to get into smoking cheese and cold smoke salmon. I also want to get into smoking sausage etc. So what does everyone recommend I do? My little electric smoker doesn't get hot enough when it's below 30 and in the summer it doesn't run the element long enough to create smoke. My gas grill is a large 6 burner and it's only two years old.. We do have a large family so space is an issue we have 5 kids and 2 adults and of course the occasional neighbor kids and our friends of course. :sausage:

Hello  .  Welcome.  I see this is your first post.  Please take some time and swing over to Roll Call and introduce yourself so that we may give you a proper "Hello".  All info you can provide us with such as smoker type, location and so on will help us answer any questions you may have.  As for your question:  Here is my opinion for what it is worth.  Others will have different advice.  This is only my opinion.  Try adding a smoking tray to that propane smoker before putting out serious cash on a new smoker.  Jeff just happens to have JUST what you need.  Check out the link below.  I think you will be very happy you did.  Good luck.

The cold smoking attachments for most pellet cookers require pans of ice to keep the temps under 150°, however, a smoke device like the Amazin Tube or Blazin Grill smoke box that burn pellets can cold smoke. A cheap cold smoke generator can also be easily made to put smoke into a box, plastic tub, cold grill, etc. Visit:

I'm just beginning to make sausage and am trying to decide how to smoke things in the 100-110° range to start and then up to 150-160° range to finish. I don't think my pellet grill alone will do that.

What pellet grill has the best temp controller and is the easiest to clean? What does everyone recommend ? What's the best build quality? I guess I don't know of all the different manufacturers is there a list somewhere ?
