Really looking forward to evolving to the next level of smoking. Any day now I should get a call that my newest smoker is ready for pick up. Bell Fab, 24" with 20" offset. 5/16" steel should hold the heat well. This will be a big jump as I have recently been limited to a gas grill and a cameron's stovetop smoker box. As soon as the smoker arrives I will share some pics. I am actually looking forward to ruining some meat just to practice!  Any preference in thermometers? Also looking to pick up some wood, especialy fruit trees. I will always appreciate advice and tips.

Hello and

to SMF - glad you joined in the fun

Picked up my new BellFab smoker this weekend. What it lacks in cosmetics, it surely makes it up in durability. Picked up some Ozark Oak lump today for $4.99/ 10 lbs. bag-- a pretty good deal. Very little dust in the bag. ALso found a local dude to sell me 10lbs pecan chunk, 10lbs hickory chunk, and 7lbs cherry chunk; all for $25. I feel like I am off to a good start.  COmpletely coated the interior and all grates with oil prior to ignition. Also picked up a Maverick ET-732 which I must say is a very nice luxury especially considering that it is 100F in Tulsa today.  We have a brand new Fresh Market opening this week just down the street from my house. I can't wait to challenge the butchers for a unique cut of meat.  Thanks to all for your advice. Everything has been quite valuable. And thanks to Craig Bell for showing me there is a better product out there than retail offerings.

Just so you know since you are new if you post any pics our software will probably hold the post until a moderator can approve it. Just be patient and don't double post it because you don't see it show up right away, someone will get to it! We do this to keep the spammers out and so no one posts anything inappropriate until we get to know them. This only lasts until you make about 20 posts.

Glad you mentioned that. I had a weird experience during my post. First I recieved a warning by my software that the website had a security violation (weird in the sense that I have been reviewing the forum for a month; taking notes, etc.) Then the Forum post gave me a page that said there had been an error to the posting and that I should reply to the Forum through a feedback link. Unfortunately, the link would not process a new window. I closed my browser, tried again but got the same result. Went out to check the smoker, jump in the pool, and then tried again and my posting was there. Apologies for the trouble. Please forward this to the appropriate place within the Forum as this may not be where I need to relay this information.  Things seem to be working fine at the time of this post so I suspect a problem from my end rather than the Forum but thought you would like to know.

Hmm...I apologize if I just electrocuted anyone when I drooled all over my monitor there.  Granted, I'm a newbie, but I think that is a sweet looking rig.  Let us know how it smokes.  Just from the pics, I'm getting very excited about building my own set-up.  Good luck to you, and keep us posted.
