You are correct. There were two Smokefires versions I believe, and now the Searwood. It seems to do well across all the reviews I’ve seen. I’m planning to cook on it soon.I believe the Searwood is their 2nd gen entry. After the less than stellar reviews of their intro pellet model, this one looks to have really turned the corner and should be a solid performer. Congrats and lets see that first smoke!
I would agree with babydocsmoke. RecTeq customer service is amazing. I bought my dualfire from them and a week later it went on sale for $200 less. I called to see if the could refund me the $200 ( my unit had not shipped yet) Mike on the phone explained that he could not do that but asked if there were any accessories I would like to make up for it. They ended up sending me the large griddle plate, roll of butcher paper, injection needle, grease collection pails, drip pan liners and a whole slew of different spice blends and rubs. They have earned my business forever. Not to mention that the smoker has performed great in the 30 or so cooks I've done in it.I have had a Traeger and now have a RecTeq and wouldn't go back. Everything you've mentioned would be fine. In the end I think these days pellet grills are fairly equivalent. It'll just depend on how you use it.
If you need a nice app to monitor things....keep an eye on that. RecTeq has great customer care and support. You can literally text them or call the cell phone of the guy on call and they'll make things right. That's how they earned my business.
Their customer service is over the top amazing! Some of the best out there!I would agree with babydocsmoke. RecTeq customer service is amazing. Update: After several cooks and a minor issue with my Searwood that self-corrected, I am very happy with the purchase. I am happy to go into more detail if you are interested. Regarding the minor issue I had, my Searwood seemed not to wake from the sleep mode initially. I contacted customer service and they were VERY responsive. The issue resolved itself for now with no necessary corrective action (possible user error for sure.). Good luck shopping. You are correct.
