Smoked some ribs yesterday which came out great but the family found the rub too peppery (used 4rivers all purpose rub). Is there a rub that is not peppery or spicy that I can use on beef/pork?

You can use a simple SPOG (salt, pepper, onion, garlic) rub that won't have too much heat.

You can swap black pepper for white pepper for less heat or simply cut down on the amount of pepper.

Hi there and welcome!!!

I would vote you make your own by doing equal parts Salt, Pepper, Onion, Garlic, and Paprika (no heat in it at all). Even though you don't want to, you won't get a better rub to your liking unless you go through a ton and get lucky. This way you get total control and its more for less money in the end :)

Simply buy a similar sized bottle of each of those seasonings.
Pour out each bottle into a separate bowl.

In a quart sized or gallon sizes plastic bag (which ever is big enough), pour 1/5th of each seasoning from the bowl.
Shake it up well then poor from the bag into one of the seasoning containers.

Do this until you fill up each of the seasoning containers and now you have 5 containers of your seasoning/rub that is good to go.

If you want less pepper then just use less pepper overall. Same goes for any of the other seasonings :)

I hope this info helps!

Killer Hogs rub is a very good rub.
