You guys think it will be ok to use 1/4" punch plate for the cooking grate? Its 1/8" Plate with 1/4" holes drilled all in it.

I would use expanded metal...  light weight....  room for lots of air flow.....   If you want you could use flattened and expanded metal....

Ok, i have a piece of expanded metal. I also got offered a 5" smokestack off a semi truck. 5" too big?

Im not exactly sure how to use the formula for the exhaust in the tutorial. Says my exaust in cubic inches is 132.66. I came up with a 33" stack for a 5" pipe. Im not sure what this symbol means (+/-) plus or minus? Anyway if a 5" I.D pipe is too big I Will go buy a 4" pipe at a parts store or something.

+/- means something close is good enough....   It ain't rocket science...  some guys put numbers together from different RF smokers and came up with a happy medium that works...

33" +/- is perfect height and if 5" fit the equation, you are good to go...

I bought a 4" pipe and cut it to daves specs. Hope to have it done by next week sometime. Gonna go today and get a thermometer and some paint and paint stripper.
