Need advice on new smoker

My dad just opened the Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse I got him for Christmas. I know you have to let it burn for a while to get rid of the oils and 'factory taste'. What steps do we need to take to prepare it for smoking meat? How long to burn? What temp? When to put wood chunks in, etc, etc? Any help is appreciated!
 
Spray the inside with Pam crank it up to 3-350 if it will go that high for a few hrs.
That will season it, if you put wood in it then it will just flame up
 
Given enough air, surely. After ya get it up there and bring it down to 225 or so I would tossin a chunk or two, if for no other reason than to get a feel for how it's gonna smoke.
