Curently I am conducting a test with my mes 40.
Using it as a cooler to hang meat. I set the smoker to 35o no problem. Both the smoker and remote have 37o and one meat probe at 38 and probe from smoker at 105o. Lows in my garage last nite hit about 22, now at 38. So that all is cool. I reset the smoker and the meat probe went to 92o. Set the probe in a icebath and went up to 100o. Left sit in bath for 15min stayed the same. Removed and replaced into meat and went to 100o, Now after 2hrs its at 98o.
I heated up some water placed both probes in. Smoker probe went to 223o and other 179o. Placed both back into my snack stix from yesterday. Smoker probe at 79 and other at 38.
This explains why the two smokes I had problems with the smoker and the probe. I thought it was the old probe.
Anybody else use their smoker for a cooler?
