Hello from Atlanta, Georgia.
I'm an American married to a Brit girl. We plan to move back to the UK in about a year, to our house in Hastings. I have an offset smoker, with the firebox and chimney, that I use to smoke ribs, pork butts and chickens. I like to use apple wood chunks mixed with some hickory chunks.
Now, this thing really puts out a lot of smoke. It's fine in our big American back yard, or garden as my wife calls it, but I found this in the Hastings District Council bylaws:
4.2 No occupier of any private residential premises shall permit smoke, noxious fumes or other matter to be emitted from any chimney, fireplace, barbecue, incinerator or other device on such premises to such an extent as to cause a nuisance, to persons residing or being in the neighbourhood.
So I'm now wondering if I should even bother to bring my big smoker over with me when we move.
Any comments?
