I just got this e-mail.

I can't believe I didn't know this.

I've been using aluminum foil for more years than I care to remember. Great stuff, but sometimes it can be a pain. You know, like when you are in the middle of doing something and you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.

Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, press here to lock end. Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can't count the number of times the Saran warp roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.
I am sharing this with my friends that did not know this. If you all ready know this, delete this message and don't e-mail me and make me feel dumber than I already feel.

I hope I am not the only person that didn't know about this.

I IMMEDIATELY WENT AND PUSHED IN ALL MY TABS...HA

SURE DOES MAKE YOU FEEL STUPID DOESN'T IT...

got the same e-mail a couple weeks ago. Right away I asked the wife to check. Sure enough. They all had the tabs. Been using this stuff for how many years. Boy it sure unrolls allot easier now!

Man! And all these years, the first time I opened a new roll of foil, I would just chuck the box and store the roll unboxed so I would never have to bend over and pick it up !

WOW! What fun! Just punched all the ends of my foil and plastic wrap boxes. Even the unopened ones! Yeesh!

Thanks for the fun thing, WC!

Cheers!

yup never new it was there, needs mod tho binds a little, mebbe a roler brg on each end lol ; )

LOL, I found out about these "tabs" a couple years back, but thought everyone knew about them.
Yes Lisa, the large boxes are very economical, but sometimes a bit large for the cupboards. I have the jumbo in celophane and heavy duty foil. Seems like alot of money till you see how much they hold. The celophane is 2000 feet x 18-24 inches, and the foils are 500 feet x 12-24 inches.

I just recently was shown this by someone who is in no way shape or form as veresed in the kitchen as myself.....I thought it was a blonde thing, I am sure glad to know it was just not me! Now with whom do you share that imperical knowledge?? That is the question!!

Yeh, it does kinda make ya feel a little dumb for not knowing this.....

I have two diff. sized rolls of "Saran" brand wrap, and neither box has the tabs to keep the roll in place....you can bet I'll be checking for this next time I buy saran wrap and/or aluminum foil !!
