I found a recipe several months back that is very easy, very versatile and very good. I tried it out on turkey once. I also tried it with a few pork tenderloins and it came out very nicely as well. Here goes-

1 cup of maple syrup. (not corn syrup)

1 cup of apple juice

1 tablespoon of brown sugar

Microwave those ingredients for 15 seconds- long enough to dissolve the brown sugar.

I also add my brown sugar/spice rub.

Inject the meat with the mix immediately before smoking. I found what works well and seems to help out is to put the meat in an aluminum pan to catch the juices. When you check the progress, reinject those juices.

I use maple chips in the smoker. I did use cherry/hickory on the tenderloins and they came out nicely as well. The last tenderloin also got some JD White Oak chips. Man they smell good!!!

I've found a few ingredients that seem to help add some flavor.

ginger, ground red pepper, Jack Daniels.

My wife's family aren't drinkers, so I burn off the alcohol before I use it. I don't think it hurts the flavor. I know it will boil off, but am afraid the residual alcohol vapors may be a turn-off to them. I haven't figured out the right amount of JD to add. If anyone has any suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated.

The first time I did this, I made an apple stuffing and used the remaining drippings as the base to a gravy.
