Some of you may remember Lil' Piggy, my patio size RF that I built a couple of years ago.  If not, here she is along with a link to her build thread.

Lil' Piggy build thread

Piggy is smaller than many patio builds, but she fits my needs very well and after smoking with her for 2 1/2 years, there is very little I would change.  Piggy's smoke chamber is an odd size, only 12" in diameter, but 41" long.  I've often said that if I ever found another tank this size that I'd build a clone.  Well I don't really need another smoker right now but a free tank dropped into my lap last week that is exactly the same size!  So, Lil' Piggy II will get underway soon.  Like I said, I don't need another smoker right now, so this one will be to sell.

Here's the new tank.  It was a water pressure booster, so no propane issues to deal with before cutting.  The base it's sitting on is from an antique treadle sewing machine.  It's cast iron and pretty heavy.  I'm seriously considering using it for this build to give it a unique industrial "steampunk" look.

Side by side with Piggy for comparison.

The tank on the ground will also become a patio RF soon.  It was an air compressor and is 14" in diameter by 35" long.

My firebox will be 12" x 12" x 12".  I've often thought that a 12" square steel tube would make a good looking firebox with it's smooth rounded over corners, but I can't ever find anything like that.  I did find this hunk of steel for free however.  It used to be some kind of motor mount (maybe from a compressor).  It is 12" wide by 36" long by 3" tall and 1/4" thick.  My plan is to cut two 12" sections out for a top and bottom and splice in a couple of 6" wide plates to form my 12" square tube.  Then I'll just have to put a door and a back on and weld all the drilled holes closed.  Might be a bit of work but I think the look will be worth it.

Cool!

Looks good,

After building so many "huge pits" over the years,  Ive found that the small smokers are much more rewarding to build and enjoyable to cook on.

Thats a nice size patio smoker, and really, when cooking at home, you dont need a huge smoker.  I have a compressor tank about that same size waiting to be cut on. It will be interesting watching your build,
