looking good steve...........thanks............

everyone else worried bout the time in the danger zone.......looks like you by passed it.........thankx

how big was that can........oz's wise.........i was planning on sitting it up anyway, like a beer shoved up the butt of a chicken like..........

I use 40 oz bean(like a red kidney bean, etc) for 14 lb turkeys and for 21 pounders, I use the 46 ounce V8 juice cans. If you want to be safe, have both cans handy so that you can make it work for the 19 pounder. Its the diameter and the size of the turkey opening that can vary.

I always pull the skin over the neck area and put a skewer through it to keep the moisture in. Also, you may need to put a skewer between the legs and tie to keep it stable. I keep it right in my broiler pans while I smoke so that I can siphon the drippings and baste it occasionally. I add some butter, beer, or whatever to the pan to give it a head start on accumulating liquid/flavor:-)

yeah steve......i have done beer in the butt chickens........i either stuff a 1/4 onion in the neck, or flop the flap over, and pin it with a toothpick

my question is........i have a 46 oz can........don't know i have seen a 40 oz can......but will look tomorrow.....mite find a 38 ozer or close........

thankx dude

thankx bill and to every one else wishing dear ol ma well wishes.............

like i said in curlygurls thread.........she had a quad bypass several years ago.......still going strong........she babysits her greatgrand kids (4 and 2) (my grandkids) all week while my sil werks, and dot goes to school and werks.......i am scared i will live that long, the way i have treated MY body........mom is also a leukemia survivor..........so.........tuff as iron..........

Steve the size of the can only matters as far as a tight fit in it's butt and the length so it's legs can still help hold it up-widder can the better for a bird that big-hope it works for you.good luck-at work once there was a frozen turkey left from turkey day-co worker and I both wanted it-I cut it in 1/2 with a band saw worked great.

I can just see WD walkin through the store with this giant turkey butt up stuffin different cans in it's backside to see which one he needs!

No Jokin though: Tell yer Ma Happy Birthday from us! She should enjoy her special day!
