Just curious as to how often you clean your offset smoker stack? I notices some deposits starting to accumulate near the elbow and up the vertical portion of the stack. Is brushing enough, or should a cleaner be used?

Thank you!

After every use, I clean all the ashes out of the firebox and brush/wipe down the grates and deflector plates. Clean all grease, etc. from the bottom of the cook chamber.

When I notice deposits inside or at the opening for the stack, cook chamber lid, cook chamber walls, I brush them down and clean the deposits out. On my COS Ok Joe, I'll remove the stack and scrub the inside with a wire brush attached to a wooden dowel. That way I can get all the deposits into a bucket.

That's about as far as I go with cleaning...

On my pit the stack is pretty darn high. I've felt some carbon start to build up in there so I probably oughta brush it out soon. I think brushing it out would work fine. I haven't done it since I bought the pit a few years ago in all honesty. I just brush out anything flaky on the inside of the cook chamber and I clean the grates and the grease out after each cook (and ash out of the firebox). My stack does unbolt. So I'm interested in what people have to say. The Brazos has a pretty large diameter stack but it's pretty short if I remember correctly. Should be easy enough to clean.

The Brazos has a very short stack and the extension I have easily removes.
