HELP. . . can't find !

Wondering if someone could help. A short while back there was a post on here for an "oval cast iron" shaped Dutch Oven that someone purchased. I thought I saved the link, but apparently not and I was unable to locate in the Search Forum. Want to buy one and wanted to check it out again before pulling the trigger on something. Have an aluminum style ( my gma's ) but " mama" says that's not going in the smoker, " ever" ! So there is that.

Thinking that my iron deficiency is slowly correcting itself. I’m on vacation next week so I plan on seasoning all this and using it to make some soup, bread, and cornbread.

Is this for bread? 12 qt is pretty large for that. I know a lot of folks that use the Bayou Classic for bread, it's 6 qts.

I posted more photos of my Magnalite oval aluminum roaster in my Cajun Rice and Gravy post. I also have the round 6-quart roaster. These went out of production in the '70's but are still around. The design is near perfect. The bottom is thick, and the sides taper in thickness. So using them on the stove top takes a pretty low setting.

Eventhough the roaster is preseasoned, I still gave it three seasonings because the roaster seemed a little "dry" when it arrived.

I have not yet. Wife doesn't think we would use that big of one very much. I do love that probe port. Looking at 7qt units now, not sure what to get. Definitely cast, enamel Is out. Is it worth getting the bail handle, easier lifting or more in the way? Would most likely be just used in oven and smoker.

Well, @bregent suggested the 6Qt Bayou Classic as an alternative.
I actually considered that one until I remembered that I can easily max out our 6Qt crockpot since I like a lot of extra veggies and taters with my chuckies, yardbirds, etc.
The extra room is well worth it. Yes, it is a beast!
As for the bail handle, that would come in handy for cooking over coals on a tripod.
It isn't to much of a nusance on my 6Qt round DO.
If you want to stick with the oval shape Bayou Classic has these two:



Neither one has a probe port but I'm thinking the port could be added.

And yeah, enamel was out of the question for me as well.
