Hello,

I am excited to be here! I have been grilling since I was a child (8-9), when my mother bought a little propane grill and had trouble assembling it. I have done both charcoal and propane and been through many a grills. But I have never smoked anything. My father in law was a great smoker, but sadly he passed away only a few years after we married and I never got the chance to learn.

Over the last year or so, finally all of my children and my wife have grown to love chicken wings and BBQ (Brisket, pulled pork, sausage, etc.) I explain as growing up in Louisiana, when we said BBQ, it included ribs, brisket, chicken, sausage, turkey, etc. Then moving to North Carolina (eastern), they say BBQ and you ask what kind, and they reply BBQ. To them, pulled pork is BBQ. If they say we are having BBQ, it is just pulled pork. I digress. Then one of my poker buddies smoked some meats for a poker night and I started wanting to learn.

I have been looking into smoking more and more. Well I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a smoker (Recteq Flagship 1100) over the weekend. I am excited to learn and explore this new hobby.

You're starting off with good gear which will help. I've been looking at the RecTeq for a while in the event I move to a pellet smoker. Good luck!

Be sure to let us know what you think of the recteq. I've been looking at that model for a bit. How long have you been in south florida? I lived in broward and palm beach counties from 2000-2022, it was quite the experience.

I am hoping to get it assembled today. I will post once I get it smoking.

We moved here in December 2022, near Sarasota.
