I'm looking to get a couple of new fry pans, one large and one medium. Budget is $50 to $75 a piece. I don't want, well the wife doesn't, cast iron. Non stick and stainless is preferred.

I will openly admit that my wife and I both Love the Rachel Ray set her mom bought her for Christmas.

excellent quality and good price.

Good Luck

It took me a while, but got smart about buying cheap frying pans. If it weren't for your $ limits, I'd say you can't go wrong with All-Clad, but it's pricey. For your broadest selection and bang for the buck, I'd head down to my local restaurant supply company and look around. Decent prices, large selection.

I told the wife about All- Clad and when she saw the price nixed that right away. I'll work on her and see if we can't up the budget.

There are decent pans in the price range but will not last you as long as pans twice the price. My wife sells pampered chef and they are high but come with a lifetime warranty. All Clad is good too.

For that price range QVC sells a brand called cooks essential and its a good price and good product.

Good luck.

Might be :), she wants something good but doesn't necessarily want to have to pay big bucks. IMO ya get what ya pay for with kitchen ware.

Often buying a whole set of pots and pans will get you what you want much cheaper than buying them one at a time. I found a set of lagostina cookware on sale for about the same price as buying two of their fry pans would have been bought seperately. It was like I got all the rest of the pots and pans free. Lagostina are very good pans by the way.
I also bought some steel ( not stainless ) pans at a restaurant supply that are my favorites. You have to maintain the seasoning on them and hand wash them, but they are very good and are 1/2 the weight of cast. The handles should have three rivets holding them on not two.

Still when all is said and done you cannot beat a good Lodge cast iron fry pan. Tell your wife that daily use of cast iron will build up her muscle tone take of weight and make her look good. Thus they are a beauty aid that she can enjoy again and again.

In my opinion teflon coating always eventually flakes off and ends up in your stomach where it really shouldn't be. The stuff scares me.

Sam's club has some decent ones well within your budget.

Nothin but cast iron fry pans for me. Also have grill dedicated cast!

I have some cast iron pans that have passed down from other generations; one was my grandmother's, one was my wife's grandmother's, one was my mom's and one was my aunt's, and two we got on our wedding. They're all seasoned and used often and you can roll an egg around on 'em when frying it! And, NOTHING frys sliced or diced potatoes better than a cast iron pan; you can't brown them properly in anything other!
That said, we also have a set of Cooking Essentials pots and pans, and our frypans (sm and lg) have worn out where the teflon coating is no longer non-stick (eggs stick to 'em). We just bought two replacements, a pair of teflon pans by T-Fal at Walmart for about $25 for the two that work just fine and will last a couple years; the old ones still suffice to fry burgers and onions and such, but the new ones are reserved for eggs, sauces, etc. When they get worn, we'll just replace them or probably the whole set by that time in 2 or 3 years. The whole set was about $100 or so. With just me and momma home, that's all we need and gives the kids something worthwhile to buy us for Christmas (that's how we got the last set! :) )

Never been big on used items, although I do buy used stuff once in awhile. But maybe you can get a good deal on high quality stuff by scouting out estate sales in upscale neighborhoods, or check the listings for local auction houses (where estates get sold off.)

When I was a kid, the family of one of my friends had very little money. Yet the kids always wore the best clothes. That's because his mom learned to go garage saleing in upscale neighborhoods. She could score the best (hardly worn) clothes, for less than Kmart charges for cheap stuff.

Ron has the right idea. Check out Sams or Costco for decent pans. You can also see if there is a restaraunt supply store near you. Might be pushing the price limits, but the pans will last for years.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We went out tonight and picked up some new pans, not just fry pans. One we got was the Emerilware 12" and then we also picked up a 10 piece set of Cuisinart Chef's Classic[emoji]8482[/emoji] Non-Stick Hard Anodized . Both products look to be of really good quality for the money.

Hopefully they perform as well as they look. We got both at a really good price at Bed Bath and Beyond. We had a couple 20% coupons and the Emerilware was on sale to begin with.

Congrats post some pics I'm kinda looking for some too. I have been using the T-Fal and they are good but have to be replaced every few years as they wear. I really like what they call the chicken fryer skillet

If your just getting stainless, then spend the money and buy some really good pans from the get go. I've got All-Clad and Calphalon here at teh house and they are great, but they are not non stick... I've also got about a ton (or so it seems) of cast iron. Could not live with out it either.

As for non-stick I was going to suggest Sam's as well, but probably a different pan... Non-stick pans will wear out no matter how careful you are with them. I know you said stainless, but, the best non-stick pans that I've found, for the money, are the aliminium Bakers & Chef's brand... I originally picked up a couple of them for cooking away from the house, but they have become the favorites.
