Smoked a whole chicken in our new smoker for the first time yesterday. First time for the smoker and first time for us (and the chicken). It turned out great. I am getting more confident. Will try jerky next.

Welcome to the forums :) congrats on the smoker! What type is it? Remember to take some pictures of your bbq and post them up, we love some Q-view!

Did you apply a rub to the chicken? If so what did you use? Did you cook to a specific internal temperature or time?

Here's what we did.
Electric Char-Broil smoker
4.12# chicken
Added water to the smoker
Mixed softened butter, onion powder, poultry seasoning, thyme and put some under the skin and rubbed some onto it. Sprinkled salt & pepper on it.
Put a garlic clove on each side of the breast under the skin.
Put an onion and a garlic clove inside with the neck.
Used apple chips at 250 degrees for 2 hr. and 45 min.
